Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he spun at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
